Best ASO tools in 2026

Every list like this is written by someone selling one of the tools on it. This one is too — Storelift is the last row. So the useful thing to do is publish the method: every price below was read from that vendor's own pricing page in August 2026, every tool has a "skip it if" line, and the tools we could not verify are named as unverified rather than padded in.

How this list was made

Prices drift. Each figure below carries the date it was read; if you are reading this months later, check the vendor's page before deciding.

What each one costs before rank tracking switches on

ToolAdvertised fromWhere rank tracking startsFree tier
AppFollowFree$179/moYes — 20 keywords/month
Appfigures$9.99/mo$149.99/moYes — no rank tracking
AppTweak€79/mo€79/moNone — 7-day trial
Mobile Action$15/mo$69/moNone
Sonar$12.42/mo billed yearly$12.42/moNone — 7-day trial
Storelift$0$0Permanent, rank tracking included

The pattern in that middle column is the finding, and it isn't a criticism of any one vendor: in this category the advertised price and the ASO price are different numbers. Analytics-first tools put rank tracking several tiers up because rank tracking is the expensive part to run.

What each one is best at

AppFollow — reviews and reply workflows

Built around the review inbox: replies, tagging, routing to a support team, and integrations into Slack and Zendesk. Its free tier gives five seats, which is more than anyone else at zero. Skip it if what you want is keyword rank — that lives on the $179 tier and is not what the product is centred on.

Appfigures — the analytics record

The strongest store analytics history in the group, and the natural pick if you already live in its revenue reporting. Note the per-app surcharge on top of every tier. Skip it if your budget is under $150/month and rank is the thing you came for.

AppTweak — the enterprise ASO platform

The most developed AI-visibility product of the six, a large keyword database, and Apple Ads campaign management in the same login. Skip it if you are one person: Essential is one seat at €79, and Campaign Manager, Reviews, Market Intelligence, the API and AI Visibility are each sold separately on top.

Mobile Action — Apple Ads management, free

Its campaign manager is genuinely free up to $10,000/month of ad spend, which is the best deal on this page for anyone running Apple Ads. Skip it if you only need ASO: the useful tier is $69 and three of its modules are priced on request.

Sonar — the most keywords per dollar

Annual billing puts it at $12.42/month for ten apps and 2,500 keywords, with an API on the entry plan and a large MCP server. If your decision is keywords-per-dollar, it wins this list outright. Skip it if you need a tier that keeps running at zero cost — the trial is seven days.

Storelift — measurement you can check

Ours. Rank, the apps above you on each keyword, a demand signal from autocomplete rather than Apple's ad score, and visibility inside Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini from $20. The free tier tracks rank and has no end date. Skip it if you need download or revenue estimates, thousands of keywords, or ad intelligence — we don't produce any of them.

The one question that separates them

Not price, and not keyword limits. Where does the demand number come from?

Most tools derive search volume from Apple's advertising popularity score. In a four-day window from 29 September 2025 the number of US keywords scoring above the floor fell from 165,875 to 39,254 — a 77.4% drop — and the score only exists in the 91 countries where Apple Ads operates, against an App Store present in 175. Ask a competitor's public endpoint about a Turkish keyword today and it still answers popularity: 5 with popularity_source: apple: the floor.

That doesn't make those tools wrong to use. It means the volume column should be read as an ad-bidding index, not as a count of searches — and a tool that shows no volume column at all is not necessarily showing you less.

Tools not on this list

App Radar, Asodesk, FoxData, AppVector, Sensor Tower, SplitMetrics and roughly a dozen smaller indie tools are absent for one reason: we have not read their pricing pages and tested them ourselves. Several are good. When we research one properly, it gets added with a date on its numbers like every other row here.

Frequently asked

Which ASO tool is best for a solo developer?

On keywords per dollar, Sonar. On a tier that never expires, Storelift. On Apple Ads management, Mobile Action's free campaign manager. There is no single answer, which is why the table above shows the price where rank tracking actually starts rather than the price on the marketing page.

Is there a genuinely free ASO tool?

There are free tiers, but most of them exclude keyword rank tracking — the part people mean by ASO. AppFollow's free tier gives 20 keywords a month and is built for reviews; Appfigures' free tier has no rank tracking at all. Storelift's free tier tracks rank on one app, 15 keywords, one country, with no end date.

Why does this list not include Sensor Tower or data.ai?

Both are market-intelligence platforms priced in the tens of thousands per year and sold with a sales call rather than a public price. They answer a different question — what is happening across a market — and comparing them to a $20 rank tracker would mislead in both directions.

How often do these prices change?

Often enough that the reading date matters more than the number. Two of the six changed pricing structure in the twelve months before this page was written. Each row here was read in August 2026 from the vendor's own page, linked in the sources below.
